My Thoughts:Review

If you are looking for a great pattern that is incredibly easy to do while watching your favorite TV show, or wherever, the Rainbow After the Storm Shawlette is right for you. This pattern is relatively easy to make due to its repetitive nature and use of very simple stitches. It also serves as a great beginner shawl that uses shaping.

In reading this pattern and getting ready to make the shawl, Underground Crafter gives all the necessary information that you will need to create your own Rainbow After the Storm Shawlette. She gives you the yarn to use, or a substitute, hook size and even gauge information. Though, I found that because it’s a shawlette, gauge wasn’t super important, to me, as long as I had the same yarn weight. *Disclaimer: Gauge is always important when making garments such as tops, bottoms, and headwear.*

One of the things I always look for in pattern reading are the notes section. You get a lot of good info from there. Underground Crafter told me what I needed to know to make this pattern just in that one section alone.

Once I sat down to crochet this pattern, I found that once I got the hang of the pattern, I didn’t need to have the pattern itself in front of me. Every so often I would check to make sure I was on the right path, though.

I chose to do my shawlette in Wool-Free Lace Premier Yarns, which is a superfine #1 yarn weight and is 88% acrylic, 7% PBT, 5% glitter. It’s has a shimmer to it and stretchy but not overly so. I used about 1.5 skeins of the yarn to finish my shawlette as written. It’s super light weight, too. Though, any yarn in the same weight class as listed in the pattern will work, too.

The Rainbow After the Storm Shawlette is a pattern that tells me “simple is best”. It’s an easy pattern to read. And the end product is fantastic! I love that it’s versatile enough to make it whatever color you desire and still have a beautiful piece at the end.

Do I recommend this pattern? If you want a quick project that you can wear as a last minute accessory to your outfit, be warm and look stylish, I definitely recommend giving this pattern a try. Plus, it’s free.

As always, much love and happy hooking.

Dianne
